The Operations Manager is responsible for the overall coordination of the business operations and supports the production manager in the day to day management of the factory, improving operational efficiency and driving growth. He is also to ensure the business delivers on its key objectives.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Production and Plant Operations:
- Ensure production is in line with defined targets
- Work with the Production Manager and Operations Manager to ensure the plant is running 24/7 at capacity utilization of 90%, limit downtimes to less than 2%
Maintenance:
- Ensure spares are always available and replacements are swift and that all supporting equipment are maintained in line with the required schedules.
- Plant Uptime - 98%
- Capacity Utilisation - 90%
- Production Output - 600MT per month
- Quality - 100% Quality A output at all times
Health Safety & Environment:
- Ensure the Health Safety and Environment Guidelines are followed to the letter and that the environment is a safe place for all to work in
- Reduce pollution and incidents to less than 1%
- Ensure the factory is run in line with its Health, Safety and Environmental requirements and we meet all HSE regulations such by Government, Independent bodies, Customers and Other stakeholders
- Minimum 90% score in HSE Audit
Supply Chain Management:
- Ensure the availability of key raw material inputs in the factory in line with budget and profitability targets (while working with sourcing staff, agents around the country and building new networks)
- Logistics - Manage the logistics of the firm to ensure smooth operations
- Inbound Logistics
- Outbound Logistics - Ensure the finished products get to the port within the defined KPIs.
- Ensure all finished products are loaded Just-In-Time and Bill of Lading is gotten within 14 to 21 days of production
- Time from Production to Vessel loading and Bill of Lading should be less than 21 days within the first 3 months of resumption
- Time from Production to Vessel loading and Bill of Lading should be less than 15 days from 4th month of resumption
General & People Management:
- Provide support and ensure the factory, its staff, equipment and services are running without hitches
- Oversee the day to day administration of the factory
- Effectively manage the teams and ensure fulfilled and satisfied employees who are achieving the objectives of the organisation
Reports Reporting:
- Ensure all the required data is captured. Weekly and Monthly Production reports are sent on Saturday evening
- Projects and Business Expansion Oversee construction projects, expand existing production lines and expansion of the business to new segments
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- A Master’s degree or MBA is an added advantage. Professional certifications in Operations Management, HSE, or Supply Chain (e.g., PMP, NEBOSH, CIPS) will be a plus.
- Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations or plant/factory management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven track record of managing production targets, optimizing operations, and leading multi-functional teams.
- Experience overseeing large-scale projects and business expansion initiatives is required.
Technical Skills:
- Strong understanding of production processes, plant efficiency metrics, and preventive maintenance systems.
- Proficiency in data analysis, production reporting, budgeting, and P&L management.
- Familiarity with supply chain, logistics, and inventory planning software/tools.
- Solid understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, audits, and compliance standards.
Leadership & Managerial Skills:
- Excellent leadership and team management capabilities with the ability to motivate and develop people.
- Ability to manage cross-functional teams and collaborate across departments.
- Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and deliver results in a high-paced, 24/7 production environment.
Communication & Reporting:
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in preparing and presenting operational reports to executive management.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
