Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Routine Eye Exams: Performing comprehensive eye exams to assess visual acuity, peripheral vision, and overall eye health.
- Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnosing and treating a wide range of eye conditions, including cataracts, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and other eye diseases.
- Surgical Procedures: Performing eye surgeries, including cataract surgery, laser surgery, and other ophthalmic surgeries.
- Prescribing Corrective Lenses: Prescribing eyeglasses and contact lenses to correct vision problems.
- Patient Education and Counseling: Educating patients about their eye conditions, vision correction options, and lifestyle changes.
- Collaboration: Working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible care for patients.
- Staying Up-to-Date: Keeping abreast of emerging trends and advancements in ophthalmology.
- Managing Clinics: Managing emergency eye clinics, outpatient clinics, and other specialist eye clinics.
- Performing Specialized Tests: Ordering and interpreting specialized tests and imaging examinations.
Requirements:
- Medical Degree (MD or DO).
- Specialized Residency: Completion of a four-year residency program in ophthalmology.
- Board Certification: Obtaining board certification in ophthalmology from the Board of Ophthalmology.
- Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience as an ophthalmologist.
- Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient management skills are crucial, along with strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
