Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct Comprehensive Eye Examinations: Perform thorough eye exams to assess visual acuity, refractive errors, and overall eye health.
  • Diagnose and Treat Eye Conditions: Identify and manage common eye conditions such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia. Treat ocular diseases within their scope of practice.
  • Prescribe Corrective Lenses: Recommend and prescribe eyeglasses or contact lenses based on individual needs and preferences.
  • Collaborate with Other Healthcare Providers: Work with ophthalmologists and other medical professionals to coordinate patient care and manage complex cases.
  • Educate Patients: Provide guidance on eye care practices, including the use of contact lenses, eye safety, and preventive measures.
  • Maintain Accurate Records: Document patient histories, examination findings, and treatment plans in compliance with healthcare regulations.
  • Stay Updated with Advances in Optometry: Keep abreast of the latest developments in optometric technology and techniques.


Requirements:

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) Degree: Completion of a Doctor of Optometry program from an accredited institution.
  • License: Valid state license to practice optometry and Registration with the Optometrist and Dispensing Opticians Registration Board of Nigeria(ODORBN)
  • Experience: 2-3 years of previous experience in a clinical setting.
  • Skills: Strong diagnostic skills, excellent communication, and patient management abilities.
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with optometric equipment and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Personal Attributes: Empathy and Compassion: Ability to relate to and understand patients’ needs and concerns.
  • Detail-Oriented: Keen attention to detail and accuracy in performing eye exams and recording patient information.
  • Team Player: Collaborative attitude and ability to work effectively with other healthcare professionals.
  • Commitment to Continuous Learning: Enthusiasm for staying current with advancements in optometry and healthcare.


Location: Port – Harcourt, Rivers State

Remuneration: NGN 150,000 – 200,000
