THE ROLE

Askya is seeking to fill an exciting role for an accomplished and entrepreneurial investor who seeks to lead investments in innovative tech startups in Africa.

As Partner or Principal, you will play a central role in launching and managing Askya’s first venture capital fund. You will source, analyze, and execute investment opportunities, support portfolio companies to grow sustainably and manage a team of investment professionals, while enhancing the potential and competitiveness of African economies. Alongside the founder, you will also play an instrumental role in firm operations and fundraising.

The successful candidate will become a key member of the senior team in a highly collaborative and entrepreneurial firm. We hire for strengths, with a belief that the best teams draw their success from unique and complementary individuals.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

●       Play a key role in setting up the firm’s for success.

●       Help design, raise and deploy the firm’s venture capital funds.

●    Build an investment team and source, qualify, and deploy capital into startups.

●       Regularly interface with strategic limited partners.

●   Collaborate with other team members, and contribute to knowledge development and research.

●       Thought leadership and public representation at industry events.

●       Contribute to strategic projects of the firm.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

We look for candidates demonstrating the following attributes:

●    An exceptional track record of achievement in the startup / VC / tech ecosystem.

●       Experience in direct investing in startups is a plus.

●       Passionate about supporting African entrepreneurs building tech champions.

●     Extensive network of startups, investors, LPs and other stakeholders relevant to the firm.

●       Fluency in English is required, fluency in French is a plus.

THE CONDITIONS

●       Start date: 2025.

●      Length of contract: permanent, with a long-term commitment to the firm.

●   Competitive compensation package including base, bonus and carried interest.

●      Scope of work and responsibilities depending on experience.
