Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified individual to serve as the principal of our nursery to secondary school in Abakaliki, Ebonyi state. This individual will be responsible for leading the institution towards academic excellence, financial stability, and professional development. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in education, business, and financial management, as well as demonstrated leadership and organizational skills.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement educational programs and curricula that meet national and international standards.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive school culture promoting student engagement and academic achievement.
  • Oversee the recruitment, development, and retention of qualified teaching staff.
  • Evaluate and improve teaching methods and student learning outcomes through continuous assessment and feedback.
  • Manage day-to-day school operations, including scheduling, facilities management, and administrative functions.
  • Ensure the school complies with all local, state, and federal regulations and policies.
  • Implement and oversee health and safety policies to ensure a safe learning environment for students and staff.
  • Develop and manage the school budget, ensuring efficient use of resources and financial stability.
  • Oversee financial planning, including fundraising, grant writing, and developing strategic partnerships.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and the broader community.
  • Develop strong relationships with parents, community leaders, and educational authorities.
  • Represent the school at various community and educational events.
  • Lead the development and implementation of the school’s long-term strategic goals.
  • Continuously assess and address the school's strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats.
  • Promote innovation and continuous improvement in all areas of the school’s operation.


Requirements:

  • BSc/Master's degree in Education, Educational Administration, or a related field. A Ph.D. is an advantage.
  • Professional certification in school administration or leadership.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in educational leadership, with at least 5 years in a principal or similar administrative role.
  • Proven experience in managing school operations, budgeting, and financial planning.
  • Demonstrated success in improving academic outcomes and school performance.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to inspire and motivate staff and students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in financial management and understanding of school funding and budget processes.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and implement long-term plans.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with various stakeholders, including parents, community members, and educational authorities.
  • High level of professionalism and ethical standards.
  • Passionate about education and committed to the holistic development of students.
  • Culturally sensitive and able to work in a diverse community.
  • Innovative, with a forward-thinking approach to education.
