Job Summary

The Risk Officer is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across the organization to ensure sustainable operations and compliance with regulatory standards. The role focuses on monitoring internal and external risks, ensuring the organization’s risk management framework is effective, and recommending solutions to minimize risk exposure

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Risk Identification & Assessment:

  • Identify and evaluate potential risks that could impact the organization's performance, including operational, financial, strategic, and compliance risks.
  • Conduct risk assessments and analyze risk trends across the business to determine the potential impact and likelihood of occurrence.
  • Collaborate with different departments to understand their risk profiles and recommend risk management strategies.


Risk Mitigation & Management:

  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to manage identified risks effectively.
  • Ensure that risk management policies and procedures are established, documented, and communicated throughout the organization.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of risk controls and suggest improvements to minimize exposure to risks.


Risk Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Regularly monitor risk exposures and provide timely reports on emerging risks to necessary authorities.
  • Prepare detailed risk analysis reports for the board and relevant stakeholders, outlining key risks and the measures taken to address them.
  • Provide updates on the status of risk management initiatives and recommend actions based on ongoing risk assessments.


Regulatory Compliance & Governance:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards in risk management practices.
  • Collaborate with the legal and compliance teams to ensure that risk management policies align with regulatory changes.
  • Maintain records and ensure proper documentation of all risk management activities to comply with audit and regulatory requirements.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CIIN, PRM are an advantage.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years experience in risk management or a similar role, ideally within the insurance, banking, or financial services sector.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and assess risk accurately.
  • Proficient in risk management tools, risk assessments, and reporting software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory standards and best industry practices in risk management.


Remuneration: NGN 4,000,000 – 6,000,000 Annual
