Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Review and update safety policies regularly to ensure they reflect current laws and best practices.
- Conduct risk assessments and identify potential hazards in the workplace.
- Develop and implement control measures to mitigate identified risks.
- Conduct regular safety inspections of work sites, equipment, and tools to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Report findings and recommend corrective actions to address any safety violations or hazards.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine their causes and prevent future occurrences.
- Prepare detailed reports on incidents and recommend preventive measures.
- Develop and conduct safety training programs for employees, including new hire orientation, refresher courses, and specific hazard training.
- Maintain training records and ensure all employees receive required safety training.
- Develop and implement emergency response plans and conduct regular drills.
- Ensure all employees are familiar with emergency procedures and evacuation routes.
- Monitor compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
- Keep up-to-date with changes in safety regulations and industry standards.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, training sessions, and compliance audits.
- Prepare and submit regular safety reports to management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Certification in occupational safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH) is preferred.
- Proven experience as a safety officer or in a similar role, preferably in the construction industry.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and training abilities.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
