Senior Legal Counsel

Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic legal advice to the management on all company matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements and contracts.
• Ensure compliance with Nigerian laws, industry regulations, and internal policies.
• Represent the company in legal proceedings and liaise with external legal counsel as needed.
• Advise on labor law issues, corporate governance, regulatory filings, and risk management.
• Conduct legal research and stay up-to-date with changes in relevant laws and regulations.
• Support the setup of business operations from a legal standpoint, including licensing and company registration processes.
• Assist in managing intellectual property rights, data protection policies, and legal documentation.
• Coordinate with international teams to align legal strategies across regions.
  
  

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B); BL and license to practice law in Nigeria is mandatory.
• Master’s degree in Law (LL.M) or additional certifications in corporate law is an advantage.
• Minimum of 7 years of post-qualification experience in a corporate legal department or law firm.
• Solid knowledge of Nigerian corporate, labor, commercial, and regulatory law.
• Experience in FMCG, manufacturing, or similar industries preferred.
• Excellent contract drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and advisory skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure with attention to detail.
