A top construction company is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor (QS) and Project Manager to manage the cost, contracts, and overall project lifecycle for its construction projects. You will be overseeing all aspects of construction, from cost estimation to project execution and completion.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and feasibility studies for construction projects.
- Manage the financial aspects of projects, including budgeting, cost control, and forecasting.
- Ensure all projects stay within the approved budget while delivering high-quality work.
- Oversee the preparation and management of contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and clients to negotiate and agree on contracts.
- Ensure all parties adhere to the contractual terms and resolve any disputes promptly.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and scheduling.
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of project delivery, ensuring projects are completed on time and within scope.
- Ensure that safety, quality, and environmental standards are maintained throughout the project.
- Manage the procurement of materials, equipment, and services for construction projects.
- Evaluate suppliers and contractors, negotiate terms, and ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
- Ensure cost-effectiveness and quality in the procurement process.
- Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.
- Monitor and assess project risks, addressing them proactively throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead and manage project teams, including quantity surveyors, engineers, architects, and contractors.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to junior team members and QS professionals.
- Coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
- Prepare regular reports on project progress, costs, and financial performance for senior management.
- Use project management tools to track milestones, costs, and risks.
- Present updates and recommendations to clients and stakeholders on project status and adjustments.
- Ensure all construction activities comply with local building codes, health and safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Implement quality control measures to ensure that all work meets industry standards and client specifications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in quantity surveying and project management within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of construction costs, contracts, procurement, and project management processes.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and quantity surveying tools.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with local building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Professional certification (e.g., RICS, PMP) is an advantage.
