Job Summary:
Wagon Wheel is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Quantity surveyor with a strong background in Quantity Surveying. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing technical operations, managing project budgets, and ensuring cost-effective strategies for construction projects. This role demands a detail-oriented professional capable of leading a team while ensuring project quality and financial viability.
Key Responsibilities:
• Manage and oversee all technical aspects of construction projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
• Provide expertise in cost management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
• Conduct detailed quantity surveying to manage project costs, preparing cost plans, and financial reports.
• Evaluate tenders, contracts, and bills of quantities for new and ongoing projects.
• Collaborate with project teams, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-efficient project delivery.
• Provide leadership to junior technical officers, ensuring all work adheres to industry standards.
• Conduct risk assessments to identify potential project risks and mitigate them accordingly.
• Ensure all project documentation is accurate and up to date.
• Work closely with architects, engineers, and other professionals to ensure the integrity and functionality of technical designs.
• Conduct site visits to ensure adherence to design, quality, and safety standards.
• Prepare periodic progress reports, including financial status and projections for senior management.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• A minimum of 7-10 years of experience in quantity surveying and technical project management.
• Proven experience working on large-scale construction projects, preferably within the infrastructure or real estate sectors.
• Strong knowledge of construction contracts, law, and relevant industry standards.
• Excellent understanding of cost control and value engineering processes.
• Proficiency in relevant software such as AutoCAD, MS Project, and cost management tools.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
• Certification from recognized bodies (e.g., RICS or CIOB) is an added advantage.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in Quantity Surveying or related technical field.
• Experience with green building standards and sustainable construction practices.
• PMP or similar project management certification.
