Job Summary

The Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for the accurate measurement and valuation of construction works, ensuring that projects are completed within budget and on schedule. This role involves providing expert advice on quantity-related matters, managing cost control, and coordinating with project teams.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs for construction projects based on drawings, specifications, and site visits.
  • Utilize quantity surveying software and tools.
  • Review and verify the accuracy of quantity calculations.
  • Develop detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead costs.
  • Analyze and evaluate tender documents and bids.
  • Prepare cost reports and forecasts.
  • Manage and administer construction contracts, ensuring compliance with contract terms and conditions.
  • Prepare and review variations and claims.
  • Resolve quantity-related disputes and claims.
  • Monitor and control project costs throughout the construction process.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost-reduction measures.
  • Prepare progress payments and final accounts.
  • Provide value engineering and value management advice to optimize project costs.
  • Identify alternative materials, methods, or designs to achieve cost savings without compromising quality.
  • Assess and manage quantity-related risks on construction projects.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Minimum 4-7 years of experience in quantity surveying.
  • Professional membership in a relevant quantity surveying organization (e.g. NIQS)
  • Strong knowledge of construction industry practices and standards.
  • Proficiency in quantity surveying software and tools.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.  
  • Strong negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
