Job Summary
The Business Development Manager will lead the growth and market entry strategy for a care home in Abuja.
This role involves developing and executing business strategies, identifying growth opportunities, building relationships with key stakeholders, and driving revenue growth.
The candidate will be instrumental in positioning the care home as a trusted provider of quality care services while ensuring sustainable business growth.
Key Responsibilities
Market Research & Analysis:
Conduct thorough market research to identify growth opportunities and trends in the care home and elderly care sector in the new country.
Analyze local regulations, competition, and consumer needs to ensure the care home’s offerings align with market demand.
Develop a strategic plan for market entry and expansion.
Business Strategy & Planning:
Develop and implement business development strategies to ensure successful market penetration and long-term growth.
Work with senior management to set financial goals, KPIs, and timelines for scaling operations.
Identify potential business partners, investors, or joint ventures that could support the start-up’s expansion goals.
Sales & Marketing:
Build and manage relationships with key stakeholders, including healthcare providers, government agencies, and potential clients.
Develop a marketing and sales strategy to promote the care home’s services to the target audience.
Collaborate with the marketing team to create campaigns that raise brand awareness and attract clients.
Lead negotiations and close deals with key partners, such as hospitals, insurance providers, and corporate clients.
Partnership Development:
Identify and pursue partnership opportunities that will enhance the care home’s visibility and market share.
Collaborate with healthcare organizations, government agencies, and community groups to build a strong referral network.
Attend relevant industry events, conferences, and trade shows to represent the care home and build strategic connections.
Financial Management & Reporting:
Assist in developing the business budget, ensuring that the business development activities are aligned with financial goals.
Monitor the financial performance of the care home in terms of revenue growth, profitability, and ROI.
Provide regular reports on business development activities, market conditions, and financial forecasts to the senior management team.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure that the care home complies with all local and international laws, regulations, and licensing requirements.
Stay updated on changes in healthcare policies and regulations that may impact the care home’s operations.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment of business development goals with operational capabilities.
Provide guidance and support to junior staff involved in business development and marketing efforts.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, or a related field.
A Master’s Degree is an advantage.
Minimum of 5 years of business management or allied experience, ideally in healthcare, elderly care, or hospitality.
Proven experience in business development, market expansion, and sales strategy in a start-up or new market environment.
Experience in managing relationships with stakeholders across healthcare or service-based industries.
Understanding of the healthcare industry and care home regulations in the country (or ability to quickly familiarize with local regulations).
