Job Summary

The Tax & Treasury Manager (TTM) is tasked with optimizing the tax position of the Company as well as corporate treasury operating activities. The TTM plays a pivotal role in overseeing and strategizing the company’s financial and tax-related activities. He/she will ensure compliance with Company income tax, excise duties value-added tax (VAT) etc.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for full ownership of all Company tax compliance including gathering/storing of accurate tax data records, co-ordination of internal/external stakeholders, development of local transfer pricing documentation etc.
  • Work closely with the with the Procurement and Reporting & Accounting team to ensure tax compliance.
  • Ensure that all Company tax filings are fully in line with current (local) tax legislation and the company tax strategy.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of relevant tax declarations and payment of taxes as required by (local) legislation. Ensure the filing of tax returns with the tax authorities and payment of taxes within the stipulated timeframe.
  • Prepare period Income and deferred tax position for provisioning purposes at period end close.
  • Follow up and utilize available WHT credit notes for the payment of Companies’ Income Tax for the relevant year of assessment.
  • Prepare annual statutory corporate tax returns.
  • Lead/co-ordinate the audit process, and provide response to queries from Auditors etc.
  • Take full (functional) ownership of the tax figures/disclosures included within the internal and external (consolidated) reporting (including Company Annual and Strategic Plans, Company sustainability reporting), provide proper analysis of the data underlying the tax figures and necessary explanations.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial and business (tax) reporting. Compliance with local and international reporting standards. Providing a “true and fair” view of the Company tax position.
  • Monitor the excise duty landscape to keep abreast with new developments (changes in duty regimes, industry best practices, etc.).
  • Provide support with the processing of company/employees’ tax clearance certificates Management of WHT credit notes for vendors.
  • Identify and manage tax risks – act upon signaled deficiencies or potential improvements.
  • Develop, localize, implement, and maintain tax (and related) best practice policies ensuring compliance with the Company Tax Strategy, the Company Rules, the Code of Conduct and the Tax Control Framework.
  • Achieve optimal balance between risk and return. Company tax processes are compliant with relevant rules. Mitigation of tax exposures. Value protection.
  • Ensures continuous process improvement by timely identification of relevant developments within the local tax legislation/regulation. Ensure proper translation for the business of the impact of changes, highlighting actions required (e.g., updating procedures and/or systems) or opportunities arising.
  • TTM is responsible for making sure all payments to vendors, suppliers, contractors, statutory bodies are made on time.
  • Monitor daily cash process and reviews all cash management transactions to ensure balance to the G/L
  • Responsible for proper and up-to-date maintenance of bank account authorisation.
  • Ensure that all documents with relation to banking facilities are legitimate
  • Monitor all bank accounts to ensure that cash resources are managed efficiently.
  • Monitor and ensure all finance interests and charges are in line with contractual agreements.
  • Monitor bank accounts daily to ensure cleared funds are promptly credited to company accounts (to minimize interest costs) and all issues are resolved with dispatch.
  • Ensure all reconciliation statements are up to date.


Requirements:

  • This position is preferably open to female candidates
  • BSc / HND in Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, and any other relevant Management Degree.
  • Must be professional membership of ICAN/ACCA and/or CITN.
  • MSc / MBA will be an added advantage.
  • Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience with minimum of 4 years in similar position

500,000
