Job Summary

We are currently seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a school library personnel. This position involves managing library resources, assisting students and teachers with research, organizing library events, and promoting a love of reading

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the organization and maintenance of the library’s collection, ensuring that books, media, and resources are properly cataloged and accessible.
  • Assist library patrons, particularly children and young adults, in finding and using resources, including books, digital media, and reference materials.
  • Manage the borrowing and returning of books, maintaining accurate records and ensuring overdue materials are tracked.
  • Plan and organize library programs, such as reading clubs, educational workshops, and other activities aimed at engaging students and young readers.
  • Ensure the library is a welcoming, quiet, and safe space conducive to reading, studying, and learning.
  • Manage the acquisition of new books, resources, and materials based on user needs and curriculum requirements.
  • Maintain library records, including inventory management, borrowing history, and overdue materials.
  • Organize the layout of the library to optimize space and enhance the experience for users.
  • Collaborate with teachers and staff to support curriculum needs and promote literacy within the school or community.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of digital library systems, including online cataloging and e-book management.
  • Provide guidance to students on how to research, access, and use library materials effectively.




Requirements:

  • Minimum of BSc in Library science or a relevant course of study
  • Proven experience in managing a Library
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Must live within the Ogudu, Ojota, and Ketu area
  • The ideal candidate should have excellent organizational and communication skills, a strong knowledge of library systems and procedures, and a love for working with children and young adults
