Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Technical Duties:

  • Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and support to technicians and apprentices.
  • Complex Repairs: Handle complex repairs and diagnostics that require specialized expertise.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve difficult technical issues.
  • Quality Control: Conduct quality control checks to ensure that repairs meet workshop standards.


Leadership Duties:

  • Team Management: Supervise and manage a team of technicians and apprentices.
  • Work Allocation: Allocate work to technicians and apprentices based on their skills and expertise.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of technicians and apprentices and provide feedback.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs and develop training programs for technicians and apprentices.


Administrative Duties:

  • Workshop Operations: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the workshop.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels of parts and supplies.
  • Budgeting: Assist in budgeting and cost control.
  • Customer Service: Ensure that customers receive excellent service and support.


Safety and Compliance Duties:

  • Safety Procedures: Ensure that safety procedures are followed and that the workshop is a safe working environment.
  • Compliance: Ensure that the workshop complies with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Environmental Management: Ensure that the workshop operates in an environmentally responsible manner.


Other Duties:

  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Communication: Communicate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that the workshop is operating effectively.
  • Represent the Workshop: Represent the workshop in a professional and courteous manner.


Requirements:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
  • Typically 5-10 years of experience in the automotive industry, with a minimum of 2-3 years in a management role.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle systems, diagnostics, and repair methods.
  • Certifications like ASE (Automotive Service Excellence)
  • Knowledge of quality management systems, such as ISO 9001.
  • Proven experience in leading teams, managing budgets, and driving business growth.
  • Strong understanding of business principles, including finance, marketing, and operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers, employees, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans to drive business growth and improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to resolve customer complaints and operational issues.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Willingness to adapt to changing business conditions, technologies, and customer needs.
  • Ability to coach and develop team members to improve performance and achieve business objectives.
