Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Technical Duties:
- Technical Guidance: Provide technical guidance and support to technicians and apprentices.
- Complex Repairs: Handle complex repairs and diagnostics that require specialized expertise.
- Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot and resolve difficult technical issues.
- Quality Control: Conduct quality control checks to ensure that repairs meet workshop standards.
Leadership Duties:
- Team Management: Supervise and manage a team of technicians and apprentices.
- Work Allocation: Allocate work to technicians and apprentices based on their skills and expertise.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor the performance of technicians and apprentices and provide feedback.
- Training and Development: Identify training needs and develop training programs for technicians and apprentices.
Administrative Duties:
- Workshop Operations: Oversee the day-to-day operations of the workshop.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels of parts and supplies.
- Budgeting: Assist in budgeting and cost control.
- Customer Service: Ensure that customers receive excellent service and support.
Safety and Compliance Duties:
- Safety Procedures: Ensure that safety procedures are followed and that the workshop is a safe working environment.
- Compliance: Ensure that the workshop complies with relevant laws and regulations.
- Environmental Management: Ensure that the workshop operates in an environmentally responsible manner.
Other Duties:
- Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Communication: Communicate with other departments and stakeholders to ensure that the workshop is operating effectively.
- Represent the Workshop: Represent the workshop in a professional and courteous manner.
Requirements:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering/Electrical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related field.
- Typically 5-10 years of experience in the automotive industry, with a minimum of 2-3 years in a management role.
- Strong understanding of vehicle systems, diagnostics, and repair methods.
- Certifications like ASE (Automotive Service Excellence)
- Knowledge of quality management systems, such as ISO 9001.
- Proven experience in leading teams, managing budgets, and driving business growth.
- Strong understanding of business principles, including finance, marketing, and operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers, employees, and stakeholders.
- Ability to develop and implement strategic plans to drive business growth and improvement.
- Strong problem-solving skills to resolve customer complaints and operational issues.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to adapt to changing business conditions, technologies, and customer needs.
- Ability to coach and develop team members to improve performance and achieve business objectives.
