Job Description/Requirements
- Assist patients in navigating the telehealth platform and ensure they are prepared for virtual consultations.
- Collect and verify patient information, including medical history, symptoms, and insurance details.
- Guide patients on completing pre-consultation forms or assessments.
- Facilitate virtual consultations by gathering and organizing patient information, including medical history, symptoms, and relevant records, to present to the doctor.
- Assist the doctor in documenting patient assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans during consultations.
- Support the doctor in preparing follow-up instructions, educational materials, and prescription details for patients.
- Act as a liaison between the doctor and the patient to clarify instructions, answer non-clinical questions, and ensure the patient understands the next steps in their care.
- Prepare case summaries and present key information to the doctor before consultations.
- Monitor and manage appointment schedules to ensure timely consultations.
- Relay follow-up instructions or notes from the doctor to patients.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Coordinate with pharmacy services for prescription fulfillment as directed by the doctor.
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments and manage rescheduling requests.
- Troubleshoot basic technical issues faced by patients during virtual visits.
- Ensure all telehealth equipment and software are functioning correctly.
- Serve as the first point of contact for patient inquiries and escalate issues to the doctor as needed.
- Coordinate care between the doctor, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
- Manage referrals and follow-up appointments with specialists.
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain strict patient confidentiality.
- Ensure all documentation and communication comply with healthcare regulations.
Requirements:
- Applicants must hold a B.N.Sc. or be a Registered Nurse (RN) with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN).
- Candidates must possess an MBBS degree or its equivalent and be registered with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
- Previous experience as a medical assistant or in a healthcare administrative role (telehealth experience is a plus).
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to use telehealth platforms, video conferencing tools, and EHR software effectively.
- Basic troubleshooting skills for telecommunication issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and healthcare professionals.
- Empathy, patience, and a customer service-oriented attitude.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
