Position Overview:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and passionate Climate Change Article Editor to join our editorial team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for editing articles submitted by our volunteer writers, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and engaging storytelling. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to a vital cause, work with a dedicated team, and build your editorial skills in environmental and climate journalism.

Key Responsibilities:

• Edit and Proofread: Review articles for grammar, punctuation, and syntax, ensuring high editorial standards.
• Fact-Checking: Verify facts and figures to ensure accuracy, citing credible sources where needed.
• Content Quality: Ensure articles are clear, informative, and engaging while adhering to the organization’s tone and style.
• Feedback and Mentorship: Provide constructive feedback to writers to help them improve their writing on climate topics.
• Collaboration: Work closely with the editorial team and writers to meet publication goals and deadlines.
• Adaptability: Assist with other editorial tasks as needed, including creating headlines and supporting SEO efforts.

Qualifications:

• Editing Experience: Prior experience in editing or writing, especially with a focus on environmental, scientific, or climate-related content, is a plus.
• Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and provide constructive feedback to writers.
• Detail-Oriented: Meticulous attention to grammar, spelling, punctuation, and fact accuracy.
• Passion for Climate Issues: Strong interest in climate change, sustainability, and environmental justice.
• Adaptability and Reliability: Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle feedback in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Tech Skills: Familiarity with Google Docs, content management systems (CMS), or basic SEO knowledge is a plus.
