We are pleased to announce that Jobberman Nigeria is officially in the North. This move is inspired by our partnership with the Mastercard Foundation to tackle unemployment in Nigeria. The partnership aims to train 5 million job seekers and place 3 million in dignified employment by 2025. Last year, Jobberman successfully trained over 60,000 young Nigerians and placed about 52,000 of them in dignified employment.
We kicked off our project with physical activations on Tuesday, the 9th of March at the prestigious Ado Bayero University, Kano. Our brand ambassadors were on the ground to spread the good news of the Jobberman brand and the compelling soft skills training.
Here are some images from our brand ambassadors at work:
We also had a recent trip to Abuja, where we met with some of our soft skills participants to talk about their job search experiences, their goals, aspirations and expectations in the coming years. You can watch the full interview here
But that’s not all, on the 10th of March, we held our 2021 International Women’s day event at Bayero University in Kano where we had over 500 young women present at the event.
Part of the event highlights was a panel session with Hajia Salamatu Garba, President of WOFAN; Fatima Abubakar Abdullahi, Founder, Amneef multi-purpose cooperative society. These leading northern women discussed the challenges of being a woman in leadership, the importance of education and upskilling oneself for success.
Also in attendance were a group of female employers that have led businesses and dominated male-biased industries across Kaduna and Kano. To show our appreciation of what they do, we honoured and celebrated these women (and potential employer partners) with our heartfelt WE SEE YOU appreciation letters from our CEO, Ms. Rolake Rosiji, and our personalized Jobberman boxes.
We are excited at the opportunities in the North and we look forward to having more young Nigerians with soft skills certified and placed in dignified employment.
