Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
- Assist the Communications Director in planning and executing virtual and in-person events, ensuring seamless coordination and delivery.
- Handle logistics, participant engagement, and follow-ups to maximize event impact.
- Support in hosting and facilitating events, including webinars, workshops, and community gatherings.
- Create communication briefs, communication plans, and event briefs to ensure speaker preparedness and effective engagement.
- Create external-facing event recaps, reflection pieces, or articles to highlight key takeaways and amplify event outcomes.
- Write, edit, and publish high-quality content for newsletters, blogs, and social media platforms that align with the organization’s mission.
- Develop thought leadership pieces that highlight key issues in the nonprofit space, positioning The Smile Outreach as an authority in its focus areas.
- Ensure consistency in tone, branding, and messaging across all communication materials.
- Manage the creation, design, and dissemination of regular newsletters to stakeholders, donors, and partners.
- Source and curate engaging stories, updates, and visuals for newsletters.
- Monitor engagement metrics and recommend improvements to increase readership and interaction.
- Collaborate with the Communications Director to develop and execute strategic communication plans.
- Support the implementation of campaigns to increase visibility, engagement, and support for The Smile Outreach’s initiatives.
- Conduct research and stay updated on trends in the nonprofit space to inform content and strategy.
- Assist with media outreach and management of press materials as needed.
- Contribute to team brainstorming sessions and strategy discussions.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a communications role, preferably within the nonprofit or social impact sector.
- Exceptional writing and editing skills with attention to detail.
- Experience with event coordination and facilitation.
- Proficiency in digital communication tools, including email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp), social media management tools, and content creation software.
- Basic graphic design skills using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- A passion for storytelling and driving social impact.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively in a remote environment. Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines.
