Head of Application / DB Security

Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement comprehensive security strategies for applications and databases to protect sensitive data
• Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify potential risks in application and database environments.
• Oversee the design and implementation of security controls such as encryption, access management, and authentication mechanisms
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate secure coding practices into the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
• Monitor application and database security incidents, conducting investigations and coordinating incident response efforts
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards related to data protection (e.g., NDPC).
• Provide training and guidance to staff on best practices for application and database security.
• Stay informed about emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry trends in application and database security.
• Prepare reports on the status of application and database security initiatives for senior management.
• Collaborate with external vendors and partners to enhance application and database security measures.

Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in application security, database security, or related fields within a cybersecurity environment.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in secure coding practices, knowledge of database management systems (DBMS), familiarity with application security tools (e.g., static/dynamic analysis tools), and understanding of cybersecurity frameworks such as OWASP Top Ten.
• Certifications: Key certifications include Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), or Certified Application Security Engineer (CASE), which validate expertise in application and database security practices.
