Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities

Strengthening the Operational Structure:

  • Delegation of Responsibilities: Clearly define the roles and responsibilities of each staff member (PRO, Cashier, Caregivers, Cook, Cleaners, Laundry). Ensure that they understand their tasks and how they contribute to the overall functioning of the facility.
  • Regular Staff Meetings: Hold weekly meetings with the team to discuss challenges, updates, and improvements. This fosters communication and ensures that everyone is aligned with the home’s goals.


Enhancing Care Quality:

  • Personalized Care Plans: Develop individualized care plans for each resident, regularly reviewed and updated based on their health status and needs. Involve family members in care planning to ensure their expectations are met.
  • Training for Caregivers: Regularly schedule training sessions to update caregivers on best practices, including patient care, first aid, and managing dementia or other age-related conditions.


Optimizing Resource Management:

  • Efficient Inventory Management: Implement a digital inventory management system (if possible, if not, make an efficient manual bookkeeping system) to monitor the purchase and use of food items, gas, consumables, and cleaning agents. This helps in tracking usage patterns and identifying areas where wastage can be minimized.


Maintaining Hygiene and Facility Standards:

  • Enhanced Cleaning Protocols: Introduce stricter cleaning protocols, including the use of specialized cleaning agents that effectively eliminate odors from urine and feces. Ensure that cleaners follow a detailed checklist for maintaining hygiene.
  • Regular Inspections: Conduct daily inspections to ensure the cleanliness and functionality of all areas, particularly bathrooms and kitchens. Immediate action should be taken if any issues are detected. (Particularly important for maintenance culture of the home)


Promoting Resident Engagement and Well-being:

  • Activity Programs: Develop a comprehensive activity schedule that includes physical exercises, mental stimulation activities, and social events to keep residents engaged and improve their quality of life.
  • Community Involvement: Organize regular visits from local schools, religious organizations, or volunteer groups to create a sense of community and provide residents with social interaction opportunities.


Financial Management and Sustainability:

  • Separate Accounts Management: Ensure that the finances of the home are managed separately, with clear records of income and expenses. This will allow for better budgeting and financial planning.
  • Fundraising and Grants: Explore opportunities for fundraising, grants, or partnerships with local businesses to secure additional funding for the home.


Innovation and Continuous Improvement:

  • Feedback Mechanism: Implement a feedback system for residents, their families, and staff. Regularly review this feedback to identify areas for improvement.


Expanding Responsibilities of the Head of Home:

  • Strategic Planning: The HOH should be responsible for long-term strategic planning, setting goals for the facility’s growth, including expanding services to care for the elderly at home.
  • Staff Development: The HOH should also focus on professional development for all staff, identifying training needs, and ensuring that the staff is well-equipped to handle the challenges of elderly care.
  • Community Outreach: Work with the PRO to increase community outreach efforts, which could involve creating awareness campaigns, organizing open days, and enhancing the facility's reputation in the community.


Ensuring Accountability and Transparency:

  • Documentation and Record Keeping: Ensure that all records related to donations, purchases, and visitor logs are meticulously maintained. This includes keeping track of all financial transactions, donations, and the usage of resources.
  • Regular Audits: Conduct regular audits of both financial accounts and operational processes to ensure transparency and accountability.


Continuous Review and Adaptation:

  • Periodic Reviews: Set up a system for periodic review of all processes, from caregiving to resource management, ensuring that the home is constantly adapting to new challenges and opportunities for improvement.

Remuneration: NGN 120,000
