Job Summary

We are looking to hire a Logistics Officer who will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the logistics operations of an organization. This role involves ensuring the timely and efficient movement, storage, and delivery of goods, materials, and resources to meet the needs of the business or operations.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:
Logistics Coordination:
  • Plan, implement, and manage the supply chain logistics processes.
  • Oversee the movement of goods and materials from suppliers to warehouses and end-users.
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to designated locations.
Inventory Management:
  • Maintain accurate records of inventory, ensuring stock levels are optimized to meet operational needs.
  • Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with procurement teams to ensure that adequate supplies are available when required.
Transportation Management:
  • Organize and manage the transportation of goods, including selecting and negotiating with carriers.
  • Track shipments, monitor delivery progress, and resolve any transportation-related issues.\
  • Ensure compliance with transportation laws and regulations, including safety standards.
Supplier & Vendor Relations:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, vendors, and third-party logistics providers.
  • Negotiate terms, pricing, and delivery schedules with suppliers to ensure favorable conditions.
  • Monitor supplier performance to ensure timely and quality deliveries.
Budgeting & Cost Control:
  • Develop logistics budgets and ensure that expenditures stay within the approved limits.
  • Identify cost-effective logistics solutions to minimize expenses and improve efficiency.
  • Analyze transportation and logistics costs and identify areas for improvement.
Documentation & Reporting:
  • Ensure all logistics operations are documented accurately and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare regular reports on logistics performance, including delivery times, costs, and any delays or issues.
  • Provide updates to management on key logistics metrics and performance indicators.
Problem-Solving & Troubleshooting:
  • Address and resolve any logistical challenges, including delays, supply chain disruptions, or inventory shortages.
  • Develop contingency plans and backup strategies to minimize risks in the logistics network.
Compliance & Safety:
  • Ensure that logistics operations comply with relevant local, national, and international laws and regulations.
  • Monitor safety procedures during the handling, storage, and transportation of materials.
  • Conduct regular safety audits to ensure workplace and logistics operations meet safety standards.
Collaboration with Internal Teams:
  • Work closely with internal departments such as procurement, sales, warehouse, and production to synchronize logistics efforts.
  • Provide logistical support to sales teams and ensure that products are delivered in a timely manner to customers.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities to streamline logistics processes, improve supply chain efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Stay informed of industry trends and advancements in logistics technologies to drive improvements in operations.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in logistics or supply chain management, with at least 2–3 years in a similar role.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of transportation regulations, inventory management, and safety standards.
  • Ability to work under pressure and solve problems quickly.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking.

Skills:
  • Certification in logistics or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CSCMP) is an added advantage
  • Experience in managing international logistics and customs procedures.
  • Fluency in additional languages (if applicable in a multicultural work environment).
