Job Summary

Upcoming Bottling Plant require Mechanical Maintenance Engineer in high-speed beer production lines, your role is pivotal in ensuring smooth and efficient operations, optimizing uptime, and managing maintenance tasks effectively.

  • Minimum Qualification : Diploma
  • Experience Level : Senior level
  • Experience Length : 5 years

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular checks of all mechanical systems, including conveyors, pumps, compressors, filling machines, and bottling equipment & conveyors.
  • Ensure all moving parts are properly lubricated and calibrated to avoid excessive wear and tear or performance deviations.
  • Replace wear-prone components (such as seals, bearings, and filters) before they fail to avoid unscheduled downtime.
  • Use diagnostic tools (vibration analyzers, thermography, etc.) to monitor the condition of critical machinery and anticipate maintenance needs before breakdowns occur.
  • Quickly diagnose mechanical failures and implement corrective actions to minimize production downtime.
  • Utilize mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems knowledge to identify root causes of failures.
  • Perform hands-on repairs on machines like bottling lines, kegging machines, cooling units, and packaging systems, replacing faulty parts and ensuring full functionality.
  • Record breakdown incidents, repairs, and root cause analysis to help identify recurring issues and develop strategies for mitigation.
  • Manage spare parts inventory to ensure that critical components are available when needed, avoiding delays in maintenance.
  • Work closely with suppliers to ensure the timely delivery of quality spare parts and consumables.
  • Monitor and track material usage to identify trends, and reduce waste or overstocking.
  • Maintain cost control on materials and spares, optimizing stock levels without compromising operational efficiency.
  • Perform detailed analysis after any downtime incident, identifying not only the immediate cause but also underlying systemic issues.
  • Implement solutions that reduce the frequency and duration of downtime, such as modifying maintenance schedules, improving parts quality, or adopting predictive maintenance techniques.
  • Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to downtime, including mean time between failures (MTBF), mean time to repair (MTTR), and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Work closely with production managers and operators to align priorities, schedule downtime for maintenance, and ensure smooth shifts between operations and maintenance.
  • Evaluate mechanical systems for opportunities to increase throughput or reduce energy consumption without compromising product quality.
  • Recommend and implement upgrades to outdated equipment or systems to improve line efficiency, automation, and safety.
  • Educate production and maintenance teams on best practices for machine operation, basic troubleshooting, and safety procedures.
  • Ensure maintenance activities align with industry standards and local regulations (e.g., food safety, hygiene, and occupational health and safety laws).
  • Adhere to safety standards while performing maintenance tasks, ensuring that all workers are trained on proper lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and the use of PPE.
  • For high-speed beer lines with automation, knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC) and SCADA systems will help in troubleshooting automated systems and ensuring seamless operations.
  • Monitor machine data and performance trends, utilizing analytics to predict failures and optimize maintenance schedules.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and materials science.
  • Aptitude for diagnosing mechanical faults and implementing effective solutions quickly.
  • Experience with diagnostic tools (vibration analysis, thermal cameras, laser alignment tools, etc.) and general hand tools for mechanical work.
  • Familiarity with CMMS software to track maintenance schedules, manage work orders, and optimize asset management.
  •  Ability to work with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, production managers, and operators.
