Job Summary

Our client is a women's empowerment movement founded to catalyze female empowerment and development. The organization provides a community for both female millennials and adults alike to access information that helps them grow in their careers, businesses, and relationships. As the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Officer in a nonprofit organization that implements women's socio-economic empowerment and development programs, your responsibilities will include program implementation, collecting, analyzing, and reporting data to help the organization assess the effectiveness of its programs. You will also provide technical support to the team in program implementation, communication activities, strategy development and implementation, and report writing, among other tasks.

Job Description/Requirements

Key Deliverables:
  • Providing support and guidance in the collection and analysis of data to measure performance against established indicators.
  • Monitoring all project activities, expenditures, and progress toward achieving outputs.
  • Developing and strengthening evaluation procedures to assess impact and effectiveness.Coordination and implementation of the organization’s program activities (training, meetings, workshops, conferences, seminars, and as may be assigned) and other events according to the organization's requirements and program plans.
  • Preparing regular reports to provide insights into project status and recommend improvements.
  • Ensuring accountability and optimizing capacity development outcomes.
  • Work as part of the organization’s program team and assist in developing program strategy, designing program activities, developing proposals and reports, supporting the team’s efforts, negotiating and tracking activity financial expenditure.
  • Perform tasks and functions according to the directions provided by the Program Manager/Country Manager.


Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and strengthen monitoring, inspection, and evaluation procedures
  • Monitor all project activities, expenditures, and progress toward achieving the program outputs
  • Monitor and evaluate overall progress on achievement of expected results
  • Monitor the sustainability of the project’s results
  • Conduct capacity assessment on existing monitoring and evaluation system
  • Develop indicators and a monitoring strategy for the project
  • Recommend further improvement of the logical framework
  • Develop monitoring and impact indicators for the program's successes
  • Provide inputs, information, and statistics for quarterly, annual, and other reports to the Program Management Team (PMT)
  • Participate in annual project reviews and planning workshops and assist the Program Manager in preparing relevant reports
  • Support monitoring and evaluation of the effects and impact of the program
  • Provide feedback to the Program Manager on project strategies and activities
  • Suggest strategies to the Program Management Team for improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the program by identifying bottlenecks in completing program activities and developing plans to minimize or eliminate such bottlenecks
  • Report monthly, quarterly, half-yearly, and annual progress on all activities
  • Measurable Outputs and Performance Indicators
  • Work with other program personnel to monitor and evaluate the performance of the organization, vendors, engaged consultants, and partners (where applicable), on program activities, identifying successes and failures and recommending program adjustments accordingly
  • Assist with all aspects of team projects and objectives and lead the development of work products in collaboration with Team members
  • Mobilize program participants, the media, and stakeholders for events and program
  • Update and maintain program files and program participants’ contacts for monitoring and evaluation, activities, and internal reporting
  • Monitor current events and developments in Africa to provide socio-economic development and programmatic analysis and recommendations
  • Travel independently and/or as part of a team, to various locations to support the organization’s programmatic objectives
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Program Manager/Country Manager



Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in the relevant field, data analysis, economics, social development, international relations, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in a similar position in nonprofit (NGO) work, and international development, preferably working directly with entrepreneurs, women and/or youth, and other sector stakeholders.
  • Experience working on donor-funded economic empowerment programs, education, and capacity-building programs;
  • Experience in project cycle management, coordinating project activities with participants, project accounting, monitoring and evaluation; vendor engagement, data collation, analysis, and interpretation for informed programming and decision-making.
  • Working knowledge of the nonprofit strategy and logical framework, Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE), and socioeconomics.
  • Experience writing reports and project proposals.
  • Ability to prioritize, plan, and organize work to tight timeframes, handle multiple tasks, and be flexible with changing priorities.
  • Experience promoting sustainable participation of women and youths in economic development.

  • Proficiency in using industry technology tools to analyze, visualize data, and report.
  • Ability to explain data insights through clear reporting and provide feedback for impact optimization.
  • Ability to effectively present data and reports to inform programming and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience in event organization; detailed-oriented and coordination,
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines: Strong communicator and presenter in English, both verbally and in writing, and
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team to coordinate and lead the efforts of other professionals to effectively meet organizational and program deliverables
