Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of our agro-commodities trading businesses, managing all aspects of sourcing, processing, storage, logistics, and delivery of agricultural products like grains, fruits and vegetables ensuring efficient operations, quality control, and adherence to market demands while optimizing resource allocation and profitability.

Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Procurement and Sourcing:
- Identifying and negotiating with farmers and suppliers to secure high-quality agricultural commodities at competitive prices.
- Managing contracts and quality standards for incoming produce.
- Monitoring market trends and adjusting procurement strategies accordingly. Warehousing and storage:
- Overseeing warehouse operations, ensuring proper handling, storage, and inventory management of agro-commodities.
- Implementing quality control measures to prevent spoilage and maintain product integrity.
- Optimizing warehouse space utilization and managing stock levels.
Logistics and Distribution:
- Coordinating transportation and logistics to ensure timely delivery of products to customers.
- Managing relationships with shipping partners and optimizing delivery routes.
- Overseeing documentation and compliance with export/import regulations.
Production and Processing:
- Monitoring and managing production processes, including cleaning, grading, packaging, and labeling of agro-commodities.
- Implementing quality control procedures to ensure the product meets required standards.
- Identifying and addressing potential production bottlenecks.
Financial Management:
- Tracking operational costs, including procurement, storage, transportation, and labor.
- Analyzing financial data to identify areas for cost optimization
- Preparing budget forecasts and managing financial performance against targets
Team Leadership:
- Leading and mentoring a team including warehouse personnel, logistics coordinators, quality inspectors, and other operational staff.
- Hiring, training, and developing team members.
Compliance and Risk Management:
- Ensuring adherence to all relevant food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Implementing risk mitigation strategies to manage operational challenges and potential disruptions.
Requirements:
- Strong understanding of the agro-commodity market, including key crops, production cycles, and price fluctuations.
- Expertise in logistics and supply chain management.
- Proven experience in warehouse operations and inventory control.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Leadership abilities to manage and motivate a team
- Proficiency in relevant software applications for inventory management, logistics tracking, and financial reporting
- Bachelor's degree in agriculture, business administration, or a related field
Location: Ekiti
Remuneration: NGN 350,000
