Job Summary

The Subsurface Engineer plays a critical role in the exploration, development, and production of subsurface resources. This position involves evaluating geological data, modeling reservoir behavior, and working closely with geoscientists and other engineers to optimize extraction processes and ensure efficient resource management.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze seismic data, well logs, and other geological and geophysical information to assess subsurface formations.
  • Develop and maintain reservoir models to simulate fluid flow and predict reservoir performance.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to design and implement enhanced oil recovery (EOR) techniques and other resource extraction methods.
  • Conduct reservoir performance analysis and prepare technical reports that present findings and recommendations.
  • Monitor and evaluate field performance and provide insights for optimizing production strategies.
  • Utilize various software applications, such as reservoir simulation and geostatistics tools, to support engineering analyses.
  • Assist in planning drilling programs and provide subsurface input to drilling operations.
  • Stay updated on the latest technologies and methodologies applicable to subsurface engineering and resource extraction.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards in subsurface operations.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Several years of experience in subsurface engineering or related roles within the oil and gas industry or other relevant sectors.
  • Proficiency in reservoir simulation software and data analysis tools (e.g., Eclipse, CMG, Petrel).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements, environmental considerations, and health and safety standards in subsurface operations.


Additional Skills:

  • Familiarity with enhanced oil recovery technologies and techniques.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel to field locations and participate in site assessments as needed.
