Job Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the Executive Management team, responsible for overseeing all financial activities of the company. The CFO will provide strategic financial leadership, ensure the company's financial health, and contribute to achieving business objectives. This role requires a deep understanding of the food processing and agro commodity trading sectors, with a focus on driving profitability, managing financial risks, and ensuring robust financial control across multiple jurisdictions.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Leadership:

  • Develop and implement the company's financial strategy, aligning it with the overall business objectives.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to the CEO and the Board of Directors to support strategic decision-making.
  • Lead long-term financial planning and risk management initiatives to ensure the company’s sustainable growth and profitability.


Financial Management:

  • Oversee all aspects of financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial statements and reports that comply with relevant regulations and accounting standards.
  • Manage the company’s capital structure, including debt, equity, and working capital to optimize financial performance.


Risk Management and Compliance:

  • Identify and manage financial risks, including foreign exchange, commodity pricing, and interest rate risks.
  • Ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations, tax laws, and corporate governance standards.
  • Develop and maintain robust internal controls and procedures to safeguard company assets and the integrity of financial data.


Treasury and Cash Flow Management:

  • Oversee the company’s treasury operations, including cash management, investment strategies, and financing activities.
  • Ensure efficient management of cash flow to meet operational and strategic requirements.
  • Manage relationships with banks, financial institutions, and investors to secure funding and optimize returns.


Financial Reporting and Analysis:

  • Lead the preparation and presentation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
  • Conduct financial analysis to provide insights into the company’s performance, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Support business units with financial analysis, cost management, and performance metrics to drive profitability.


Mergers, Acquisitions, and Strategic Investments:

  • Evaluate and manage potential mergers, acquisitions, and strategic investments to support the company’s growth strategy.
  • Lead financial due diligence, valuation, and integration of acquisitions to maximize shareholder value.
  • Provide financial leadership in joint ventures, partnerships, and other strategic alliances.


Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure the finance team is equipped with the necessary skills and tools to support the company’s objectives.
  • Promote collaboration across departments and geographies to achieve financial goals.


  • Qualifications and Experience:
  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
  • MBA or Master’s degree in Finance or a relevant discipline is highly preferred.
  • Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA, ACCA) is required.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a CFO or similar senior financial leadership role.
  • Extensive experience in food processing, agro commodity trading, or a related industry.
  • Proven track record of managing complex financial operations in a multinational environment.


Skills:

  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
  • Superior knowledge of financial planning, risk management, and financial analysis.
  • In-depth understanding of global financial markets, accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP), and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficient in financial software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Location: Abuja

Remuneration: NGN 700,000 – 1,200,000 Gross
