Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • They often use specialized tools like scales and measuring cups to ensure accuracy. 
  • Dough Preparation and Baking: After mixing, bakers knead, shape, and proof doughs before baking them at specific temperatures.
  • They must monitor baking times and conditions to ensure products are cooked thoroughly and consistently, adjusting as necessary based on the type of dough and the specific oven used.
  • Understanding the science behind fermentation and how it affects dough is also essential for achieving the best results. 
  • Recipe Development: Creating and refining recipes to introduce new products or improve existing ones is a vital aspect of a baker's role.
  • This involves experimenting with ingredients and techniques to meet evolving customer tastes, as well as staying updated on current baking trends and dietary preferences, such as gluten-free or vegan options.

  • Ability to withstand heat and work in a fast-paced environment, as baking can be physically demanding and requires stamina. Strong communication skills are also beneficial for effective teamwork and customer interaction.
